Even when we think we're doing something good, and things are going as planned, we find out how little we really know about how the world works. After a successful program that is limiting deforestation in the Amazon, it's now being shown that forest fires have increased by %59 in areas with lowered deforestation according to
this BBC article.
After reading the book Eaarth by Bill McKibben, I realize that the Rainforest if very important to the water cycle throughout many of the continents. Preserving them seems important, but now even when we think we're doing the right thing, we see we may not be doing it correctly...or perhaps we're too late. What else can we try? I'm starting to think there may be little choice but to move civilizations to adjust with the new coast lines, and shorter reaches of the new water cycle.
