Where innovators discuss world events and issues like alternative energy
The Autism for Help Village project was born as a seed concept during the World Bank/Urgent Evoke season 1. Since that inception, these are the steps taken for this project to become a full fledged reality.
1. Achievement: AfhVP was chosen as one of the winning evokations by none other than the World Bank Institute, and called "exemplary" and "outstanding."
2. Achievement: The Project Leader was certified as a legendary hero in social innovation and entrepreneurship, in addition to becoming a founding member of WBI's Urgent Evoke.
3. The AfhVProject has been chosen to be featured in this Evoke Participation Global Giving fund raising challenge.
4. The AfhVProject has garnered support and volunteers from all over India, Lebanon, the Netherlands, and USA, to name only a few countries, and has attracted active collaboration and participation from members of other UrgentEvoke Social Innovation projects and UrgentEvoke's members.
5. AfhVProject has started a facebook group which has gathered 126 members (climbing steadily), and is becoming a lively space for raising awareness on autism besides discusing its own future.
6. Autism for help Village Project also has a presence on twitter, blogspot and google buzz.
7. The project has developed a logo, sent out emails to prospective donors, and answered comments, and questions from the overwhelmingly positive community response to AfhVP.
8. The AfhVProject has approached potential donors and participants among friends, family, relatives, colleagues, student communities, et als, of core team members, and many have agreed to support the AfhVP, through direct involvement, volunteering, as well as money donations to the extent that they are able, by those who are able.
9. Autism for help Village Project has made enquiries regarding registration as a full fledged 501c3 Non Profit Organization (NPO).
10. To form the NPO, the AfhVProject is first gathering the supporters who will be at the core of the AfhVP movement, and considering the formation of the Board, and selection of the main office Staff.
11. The Board will consist of representatives who will work as leading consultants or actively in the field, either in India, or from abroad.
12. Autism for help Village Project has accomplished this in one month, July 2010, without funding. Help support our effort to make the AfhVP a reality, to serve, as a beginning, 50 autistic people in South India.
Second Project report
By Koshy Varghese - Project leader, August 12, 2010 11:05 AM
1. Our facebook group has 145 members now. The membership is still climbing steadily with a base of sincere, deeply interested Indians and people from all around the world.
2. Our project has been linked to http://www.RespectedOpinions.com/ and has been twittered and facebooked by the forum's founder, Nicholas Nagao.
3.. Since commencing the Global Giving challenge (August 1) through today, 10 August, AfhVP has raised $810, from 13 donors, and received 25 comments, 25 votes, and has won the $100 incentive award from Global Giving for crossing the first threshold of expectations required of a potentially successful project. The AfhVP also has received 89 facebook "likes".
We have already crossed the second threshold too, by our calculations, which was to raise 300 dollars or get
ten comments.
Manmeet Singh of GG says: Have you noticed that two projects on the leaderboard are blue? These are "champion" projects because they've raised over $500, secured over 10 donors and have more than 20 comments.
AND WE ARE ONE OF THEM ! CHECK IT OUT HERE. ROOT FOR US. WE'RE GETTING READY TO TAKE OFF. ( Now there are four leader projects)
http://www.globalgiving.org/leaderboards/evoke/
We want to thank all of you for helping us get this far. We would also like to ask you for further support, networking with your friends and colleagues, so that we can get the remaining $2180 required from 36 donors, and 21 votes and comments as quickly as possible. Sure of your help and resultant success, we hope to continue to work together with you to make this project a resounding success.
Please be sure to continue leaving your comments, offering your thoughts and constructive feedback.
Latest news: WE HAVE GOT THE SECOND INCENTIVE OF another 100 dollars. Thanks.
